One year has passed since the Istanbul Convention came into effect within the EU. The adoption of the EU Directive on Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence marks a crucial advancement; however, the lack of a consent-based definition of rape leaves a substantial gap in EU legislation, leaving millions of women without protection.

In response, more than 60 women’s rights organisations across Europe have united under the It’s Not Over campaign, urging the European Parliament to advocate for all EU nations to adopt a consent-based definition of rape, in line with the Istanbul Convention’s provisions.
