A two-day capacity building training on the integration of migrants and refugees in inclusive cities has been organised by Symbiosis-School of Political Studies in Greece, Council of Europe Network, in Thessaloniki from 2 to 3 March 2023, within the EC AMIF project Accessing Services, Sharing Approaches and Practices (ASAP). This activity was conducted in cooperation with the Office of UNHCR in Thessaloniki and the Municipality of Neapoli-Sykies.
The capacity-building training was designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of public service providers and representatives of local authorities in the area of social inclusion. The training modules were delivered by experts and covered a wide range of topics, including issues related to access to education, housing and the labour market. Furthermore, additional emphasis was given to issues related to integration, social inclusion, access to citizenship and participation, social rights of refugees, support for adult migrants and the development of intercultural competences. The discourse on the specific thematic areas was enriched by the active participation of the participants, who contributed through sharing their personal experiences and expressing their views and concerns.
