Symbiosis organised the conference “Asylum and Migration: Tensions and Challenges” in cooperation with the Goethe Institute of Thessaloniki, the Heinrich Böll Stiftung Greece, the Greek Council for Refugees, the Evangelical German speaking Church, Antigone, and supported by the Municipality of Thessaloniki and UNHCR Greece.
The conference aimed to foster an inclusive public dialogue on safety, fundamental rights and migration in Greece, and facilitate communication between key actors, including refugees, asylum seekers and migrants, as well as the institutions which represent them, national and European institutions, local government and civil society organizations.
In particular, the conference sought to analyze the political processes and options for imposing an effective and justified asylum and migration policy in Greece, thus linking its implementation to the rule of law and future of Europe.
