The multistakeholder workshop “Participating in the City and Neighborhoods Politically and Digitally – DECIDIM”, held on 8 October 2024 at Karouzos Hall in the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce, focused on strengthening the political and civic participation of migrants at the local level through digital tools. Organized by Symbiosis – Council of Europe School of Political Studies in Greece, in collaboration with the Heraklion Development Agency and the Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion of the Region of Crete, the event brought together representatives of local government, civil society organizations, and migrant communities. Participants examined how platforms like DECIDIM can promote transparent, inclusive decision-making and empower residents to take part in shaping the policies that affect their everyday lives. The discussions emphasized the significance of such digital tools in fostering accessible civic engagement, particularly in local governance contexts where traditional participation mechanisms may exclude underrepresented groups.
