An activity titled “Participating in the City and Neighborhoods Politically and Digitally – DECIDIM” took place on Tuesday, 8 October 2024, at Karouzos Hall in the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce. The event was organised by Symbiosis-Council of Europe School of Political Studies in Greece, in cooperation with the Heraklion Development Agency and the Regional Observatory for Social Inclusion of the Region of Crete, within the framework of the European project EMV-LII. The initiative aimed to strengthen the political and social participation of migrants through digital tools and platforms like DECIDIM. Attendees, including representatives of local authorities, civil society actors, and members of migrant communities, discussed how digital participation tools contribute to more transparent and inclusive decision-making at the local level, particularly in Crete, where DECIDIM was explored. The discussion highlighted the increasing importance of eParticipation platforms in today’s digital world and how they can strengthen local governance by promoting broader civic engagement and involvement in decision-making processes.
