Since 2011, Symbiosis-Council of Europe School of Political Studies in Greece has advanced Information & Democracy by strengthening media freedom, pluralism, and informed civic participation through education, research and advocacy initiatives. This leaflet highlights experience accrued through programmes focusing on media literacy, freedom of expression, information integrity, marginalised communities inclusion and democratic participation. It draws on outcomes of long term initiatives, as well as the dialogue fostered during the School’s annual seminar programme and E Learning Platform courses, involving policymakers, civil society organisations, journalists and experts. Included is a list of initiatives aiming to counter disinformation, stereotypes, xenophobia, and violence, and to promote ethical journalism, critical thinking, intercultural understanding and inclusive public debate.
